Government employees can switch to UPS from NPS, know terms and conditions

Central employees can now switch to the new pension scheme from the National Pension Scheme. The name of the new pension scheme is Unified Pension Scheme i.e. UPS. Government employees were demanding guaranteed pension scheme for a long time, in view of this, the government announced the UPS. Now from the new financial year, central employees have also provided the option to switch UPS from NPS.

How to switch to UPS from NPS?

If you want to switch to UPS from NPS, then you have to go to the UPS migration page, after which you will have to select the option of 'Migrate to UPS'. For this, you must first go to www.npscra.nsdl.co.in/ups.php. You will see two options there. The first to register you for UPS and second to migrate to UPS. Now you have to fill the information being sought there by going to migrate option and then you can migrate in UPS.

There will not be an option to convert back from UPS to NPS

If any government employee switchs from NPS to UPS once, then after that it will not be able to do it from back to NPS. For this, you will be able to get at least 25 years of services, under the UPS, you will be able to get an average of 50 percent of the average basic salary just before retirement through a certain amount pension.

Pension of 10 thousand rupees

In UPS, government employees are promised to give at least 10 thousand rupees every month, which the employee fulfills the 10 -year job period. Under the PS, the employee contributes to his basic salary and 10 percent of DA in funds and the same government will also contribute to the amount UPS.
