Pakistan Army Opens Fire, Attempts LoC Intrusion In J&K's Poonch, Indian Troops Retaliate

The Pakistan army on Tuesday attempted to cross the Line of Control (LoC), leading to retaliatory firing from the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch.

News agency ANI quoted PRO Defence, Jammu, as saying that a mine blast also occurred in the Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of Poonch as the Pakistan army attempted to intrude on the Line of Control.

This was followed by unprovoked firing and a ceasefire violation by Pakistan, the PRO said.

“On April 1, a mine blast occurred in Krishna Ghati Sector due to Pakistan Army intrusion across LoC. This was followed by unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation by the Pakistan army," he said.

“Own troops responded effectively in a controlled and calibrated manner. The situation is under control and being closely monitored," the PRO added.

Troops of the Nangi Tekri Battalion, under the aegis of the Krishna Ghati Brigade of the Indian Army, retaliated strongly on the Pakistani side, ANI reported.

Meanwhile, the cause of the suspicious blast was being ascertained.

COMBING OPERATION UNDERWAY IN KATHUA

A seek-and-destroy operation to track down three terrorists believed to be hiding in a forested area in Panjthirthi-Barota in Kathu,asisnderway, with multiple agencies engaged in the effort.

The area was placed under a cordon after the Monday night gunfire between police and terrorists.

Officials told news agency PTI that three terrorists were believed to be from a group that had its first face-off with security forces in the Nursery area near the International Border on March 23.

All of the terrorists had managed to escape.

Four days later, security forces engaged them in an encounter in a forest area of the Sanyal belt of Kathua. o terrorists were eliminated, and the rest managed to flee.
