Nowadays people are very fond of making their things look different from others. One such hobby is to get a fancy number plate for your car or bike, which is popular all over the world. Do you know that these special numbers are often auctioned, which are sold from thousands to crores. You will be surprised to know that in 2008, a car number plate, '0001', was sold in Dubai for a record-breaking 14.3 million dollars.
At the same time, the craze for fancy numbers is no less in India. However, many people do not know how they can be obtained. So today we will tell you the 5-step process to get a fancy number plate....
Step 1: Register on the government website
To get a fancy number for your car or bike, you must first apply online on the Parivahan Sewa website. To create a new account on this website, you will need a mobile number and email ID. After this, you will receive an OTP on your mobile phone, by entering which the registration process will be completed.
Step 2: Select the state and vehicle
Now after the account is created, select the state where you want to register your vehicle. After that, you have to tell whether your vehicle is private or commercial. If it is a two-wheeler, then provide the details related to it. After this, a webpage will open in front of you, on which a list of numbers available in the current series will be seen. You can choose any of these numbers. If your favorite number has been selected by someone else before you, then you will have to wait for the next series and apply again.
Step 3: Make payment after selecting the number
After selecting your desired fancy number, you will be redirected to the payment gateway. Where many types of payment options will be available. After the payment is successful, an online receipt will be generated, which you can print or save as a PDF.
Step 4: Submit the receipt for vehicle registration
After getting the receipt, take a printout of it and submit it to your vehicle dealer. At the time of vehicle registration, the dealer will have to show this receipt to the ARTO (Assistant Regional Transport Office). Then your chosen number will be allotted to you. The vehicle has to be presented at the ARTO office within a month of booking the number. Remember, if this is not done, the number can be canceled and the advance amount can be confiscated.
Step 5: Price and booking process
Please note that the price of fancy numbers varies, which can range from Rs 1,500 to several lakhs. You can book the number according to your budget and preference. This facility is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so booking immediately after the release of the new series increases the chances of getting the desired number. But note that this service is available only for new vehicles.
