caused a stir at the Australian Open earlier this year when she by reminding them that she would be taking home a "big, fat pay cheque". But the world No. 22 has now tweaked her motto after welcoming a new member into her family - a rescue dog named Crash.

The American tennis star officially adopted the pooch after rescuing him when he was hit by a car. She now wants to "cash cheques" so she can help more animals. Collins' new mantra fits perfectly with her surprising retirement plan to have a bustling farm.

Collins cashed in on the Australian Open drama when she released a fitting range of merchandise with the slogan 'play tennis, cash cheques, repeat'. But the 31-year-old has now updated her catchphrase after a significant life update.

During the recent Miami Open, the four-time title winner was on her way home from the Hard Rock Stadium when she came across a dog curled up in the road. She rushed him to the vet and, when he pulled through, and named him Crash.

Collins already has a dog named Quincy, also known as Mr Q, who was by her side when she lifted the title in Charleston last year. Quincy is back at the WTA 500 event this week and he made a guest appearance with Collins on Tennis Channel, where she shared her new motto.

"Play tennis, cash cheques, rescue animals and give them the bougiest life possible! That's my new motto. We need some new merch so stay tuned guys," the world No. 22 laughed.

Quincy and Crash aren't the only animals in Collins' life, as she recently took in seven chickens. And she's now planning to expand to a whole farm - something to keep her busy in retirement.

She continued: "I am the crunchiest granola person ever now. I'm sure that takes a lot of people by surprise.

"I've always wanted to have my own farm, and I've now started with seven chickens that are so sweet. They're very similar to the dogs. Two of them tried to get in my car when I left for the trip in Miami, they're so cute.

"Donkeys next, I've got to get a donkey because I've got to protect them from the coyotes. I guess that's the best deterrent so that's s next.

"Definitely horses. I love horseback riding, that's one of my biggest hobbies. I'm going to have my hands full post-retirement! Bogue chicken life."

Collins also revealed the names of her chickens - including the original story behind one unusual moniker. "Laverne, Shirley, Lucy, Ethel, Beauty, Moira and Lobster," she added.

"My chickens are also bougie and I found out that a lot of them really like lobster. She also kind of looks like [one], her face is kind of red like a lobster so yeah, it was just kind of fitting."

While Collins is looking forward to farm life in retirement, right now she's focused on defending her title in Charleston. She will face either Jelena Ostapenko or qualifier Louisa Chirico in the round of 16.
