While we hear about various objects printed on 3D printers, a house in Pune was 3D printed in just 4 months.
As per the information, the villa was unveiled by Godrej Properties in partnership with Chennai-based startup Tvasta Engineering.
Founded in 2016 by IIT Madras alumni, Chennai-based Tvasta leverages automation and robotics for faster, economical, and sustainable construction methods. Tvasta offers end-to-end application-based solutions across all sectors of the construction industry through innovation and advanced 3D printing technology. Tvasta prints houses using two methodologies: the offsite method, where structures are printed in modules at a microfactory near the site and assembled after transport, and the onsite method, where a large-scale 3D printer is deployed directly at the construction site for faster, cost-effective building with minimal labor.
The house once again came in the news after a video by content creator Priyam Saraswat. In the video, the project director says, "This house isn’t built, it’s printed." The interior of the villa, which has two bedrooms and a large living area, is also explored in Saraswat's video.
Where is it and how was it built?
It is located at Godrej Eden Estate in the Maan-Hinjewadi area of Pune.
The villa was made using an advanced concrete 3D printer, unlike how houses are usually built. The structure is formed by layering materials, which saves a lot of time compared to traditional construction methods and reduces construction waste while increasing architectural design precision and inventiveness.
