The Shapoorji Pallonji Group is one of India’s oldest business groups founded in 1865 in Mumbai. This global business conglomerate operates across 15 major companies and has a presence in 40 countries.
The late Cyrus Mistry former chairman of Tata Sons was recognized when he took over the leadership of the Tata Group. However he also developed as a businessperson in the Shapoorji Pallonji Group where he was a chairman. This business similar to the Tata Group has 150 years old legacy.
The group was established by Pallonji Mistry the great-grandfather of Cyrus Mistry in 1865. It was known as Littlewood Pallonji & Co. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index the total wealth of this business empire was $30 billion in 2022.

The Shapoorji Pallonji Group is known for its work in infrastructure construction real estate engineering energy and technology. One of its subsidiaries Afcons is among the oldest engineering and construction firms in India.
The group has successfully completed several landmark projects across Asia like luxury hotels stadiums commercial buildings and factories. Some of its most notable projects are Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Headquarters Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Towers the Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai and Al Alam Palace for the Sultan of Oman.

The Shapoorji Pallonji Group is currently led by Shapoor Mistry the elder brother of the late Cyrus Mistry. He handles the groups various businesses as well as the familys 18.37% stake in Tata Sons.
In December 2012 when Cyrus Mistry took charge of the Tata Group he handed over the leadership of Shapoorji Pallonji Group to Shapoor Mistry. The head of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group is an Irish citizen.
