The public has been cautioned by Municipal Commissioner S. Ravindra Babu not to dump both commercial and domestic rubbish in sewage canals. He examined the sanitation projects in Bangarupeta, Gandhinagar, Munagalapadu, and the neighboring districts on Friday.
The Commissioner emphasized in his remarks that disposing of rubbish in sewage canals might have detrimental effects and seriously impair the sewage system. He made the point that when objects like glass, plastic, medical waste, and portable screen protectors are dumped into canals, they build up and obstruct the sewage flow. The danger of disease transmission rises as a result of mosquitoes and other insects using this stagnant water as a breeding site.
He also cautioned that the obstruction of sewage water flow might cause overflow during rainy seasons, allowing sewage water to enter houses and spread unpleasant odors and health problems to neighboring communities. The Commissioner said that sanitation workers may be exposed to infections like Hepatitis A if they are hurt by sharp items like needles, shattered glass prescription bottles, and other medical waste. Furthermore, mobile screen protectors, plastic materials, and electrical trash are bad for the environment and may even be harmful to animals.
Commissioner Ravindra Babu urged all citizens to desist from putting rubbish in sewage canals in order to assist municipal initiatives and behave properly.
The commissioner was joined by Trainee AE Kasim, Sanitation Inspectors Vali, Jilani, and Lokesh, Health Officer Dr. K. Vishweshwar Reddy, Sanitation Supervisor Nagaraju, and DEEs Giriraju and Manohar Reddy.
