Post-Match Reflections from Rishabh Pant

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 5: Following a hard-fought win against the Mumbai Indians (MI), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant expressed his admiration for the team's collective effort, particularly highlighting the contributions of Mitchell Marsh, Shardul Thakur, and emerging talent Digvesh Singh Rathi.

During the post-match interview, Pant noted that the squad is progressively discovering their rhythm and adjusting to the playing conditions.

“The pitch is performing well, and we need to identify what strategies are effective for us,” Pant remarked. “Initially, we desired a different type of pitch, but we are ready to adapt to whatever is presented to us,” he emphasized, showcasing the team's adaptability.

Mitchell Marsh ignited the innings with an explosive 60 runs off just 31 balls, including nine fours and two sixes. He partnered with Aiden Markram to establish a formidable opening partnership of 76 runs, which set a solid foundation for the chase.

“When a player like Mitch [Mitchell Marsh] gives us such a strong start, it allows the middle order to settle in. Our approach is to adapt to the situation, and that opening partnership put us in a favorable position,” Pant explained.

Despite facing some resistance from the opposition, Pant praised his team for maintaining their composure under pressure.

“It was mentally challenging for all of us. The opposition was not losing wickets easily, but we remained calm and finished the game,” he added.

Shardul Thakur, who bowled the pivotal 19th over, allowed only 7 runs, playing a crucial role in securing the victory.

“He has been fantastic for us, and I can confidently say he was a great acquisition. We need to support him,” Pant stated, showing faith in the seasoned all-rounder.

Young Digvesh Singh Rathi continued to shine, finishing with impressive bowling figures of 1/21 and earning the Player of the Match title.

Pant praised the young bowler, saying, “He is one of our top bowlers, and it’s encouraging to see a young talent perform under pressure.”
