IPL 2025: Digvesh Rathi, a spinner for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has once again found himself in hot water after receiving a fine for the second time in a row during the current IPL 2025 because of his enthusiastic “notebook” celebration against the Mumbai Indians.

The trump card of LSG Rathi has now been fined 50% of his match earnings for the second time in a row for violating the IPL’s Level-1 code of conduct. Rathi’s extravagant celebration after capturing wickets against Punjab Kings also cost him half of his match earnings.

Although it was quiet on Friday, he dismissed MI’s Naman Dheer and then celebrated with another notebook tick.

When he dismissed Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya in the second innings of his side’s match against the Shreyas Iyer-led squad, the 25-year-old had already accumulated one Demerit Point and was facing a Level 1 penalty under Article 2.5 for the same celebration.

“This was his second Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season and hence, he has accumulated Two Demerit Points, in addition to One Demerit Point which he accumulated during LSG’s match against Punjab Kings on April 01, 2025,” according to a BCCI news statement.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, was fined Rs 12 lakh for keeping up a sluggish over-rate during Saturday’s 12-run win against the Mumbai Indians in an IPL match played here.

A bowling team has 90 minutes to complete 20 overs, and as Pant’s LSG was running low after the 19th over, they had to retain one fewer fielder beyond the 30-yard circle.

“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 12 Lakh,” the announcement said.
