The captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rishabh Pant, commended the squad’s overall performance after guiding his team to a well-deserved win against the Mumbai Indians (MI). He gave particular recognition to Mitchell Marsh, Shardul Thakur, and young Digvesh Singh Rathi in Lucknow.
Pant said at the post-match presentation that the team is progressively settling into the ideal rhythm and adjusting to the available circumstances.
“The wicket is playing incredibly well, that much is certain, and we need to determine what is and is not working for us. Very easy. Pant emphasized the team’s adaptability by saying, “We wanted a different kind of wicket before, but whatever was offered to us, we will take it and play.”
Mitchell Marsh gave the early boost with a scorching 60 off 31 deliveries, hitting two sixes and nine boundaries. He and Aiden Markram put up a strong opening partnership of 76 runs that set the tone for the chase.
“The middle order gets time when a guy like Mitch [Mitchell] Marsh gives us a start like that. We want to play based on the circumstances, and the start we had placed us in a strong position,” Pant said.
Pant praised his players for maintaining composure in the face of opponent resistance.
It was difficult for all of us mentally. Kudos to them for not losing many wickets, but we maintained our composure and won the match,” he said.
With only 7 runs let up in the vital 19th over, Shardul Thakur was instrumental in bringing the game to a close.
“I can now declare that he has been a fantastic choice since he is fantastic for us. “We must support him,” Pant said, demonstrating faith in the seasoned all-round player.
Digvesh Singh Rathi, a young player, kept up his impressive play, returning with economical statistics of 1/21 and winning Player of the Match.
The budding star was praised by Pant, who said, “He is one of our leading bowlers, the way he is holding his nerve and good to see a youngster perform like that.”
