CHANDIGARH: Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti, UP shall be holding a massive protest rally on 9th. April against privatisation to demand that the UP government immediately scrap the privatisation process of two power distribution companies of Uttar Pradesh.

Shailendra Dubey Chairman All India power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) said that the Presidents , General Secretaries and other office bearers of all state constituents shall be participating in the Lucknow rally. On April 8 the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) will hold a meeting of the northern region at Lucknow. It may be mentioned that a one day nationwide strike will be resorted to on 26th. June if demands were not accepted.

Ajay Pal Singh Atwal General Secretary PSEB Engineers Association said he along with Devinder Goyal Finance Secretary will be participating in the rally .

UP power employees and engineers under the aegis of Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti, UP are continuously fighting for the last 127 days against the decision of privatisation of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam & Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam two DISCOMS. During this period UPPCL has not even cared to give a hearing to protesting employees and instead has started using coercive methods to suppress the agitation.

The visit of the transaction consultant to Agra and Varanasi was strongly opposed by the employees. UPPCL took four months to appoint a transaction consultant r and in the process all ethics and standard norms were flouted. Mainly the clause of “Conflict of Interest” was dropped to appoint consultants, said Dubey.
