As Netflix gears up for the highly anticipated second season of Nobody Wants This, series star Timothy Simons has dismissed the possibility of a romantic arc between his character, Sasha, and Justine Lupe’s Morgan.
Addressing speculation surrounding their dynamic, Simons asserted that Sasha’s familial commitments make such a development unlikely.
During the first season, Sasha, who is married to Esther and shares a daughter, Miriam, developed a close bond with Morgan.
However, in a recent conversation with ScreenRant, Simons made it clear that the narrative will not take a romantic turn between the two characters.
“I would say that it’s not particularly funny to break up a family, so I think if there was hope, they would probably dash that,” Simons remarked, as quoted in a report by Digital Spy.
Adding to this, he referenced Lupe’s own statement at the Golden Globes, where she emphatically dismissed any romantic possibility between Sasha and Morgan.
“Justine, I think, looked straight into the camera when we were at the Golden Globes and was like, ‘They’re not getting together,’ so I think we can dispel that rumor,” Simons stated.
“One of the things that we talked about is that, whether it’s romantic or not, there’s a connection between those two people.
And that’s fun. It doesn’t have to be romance. Maybe they’ll just be friends, I don’t know. They won’t tell me!” he added.
Nobody Wants This, which blends comedy with nuanced relationship dynamics, follows Kristen Bell’s character Joanne, an agnostic podcast host, who finds herself in an unexpected relationship with a rabbi, Noah, played by Adam Brody.
The show has been praised for its witty dialogue and fresh perspective on relationships and personal growth.
“Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed,” Foster shared.
While fans eagerly await season 2, Simons’ remarks suggest that the focus will remain on character evolution rather than an unexpected romance between Sasha and Morgan.
Nobody Wants This is currently available for streaming on Netflix, with its second season set to arrive later this year.

Not a ‘Funny’ Direction for Season 2
The actor was firm in his stance, emphasizing that a romantic entanglement would contradict the essence of the show’s humor and themes.“I would say that it’s not particularly funny to break up a family, so I think if there was hope, they would probably dash that,” Simons remarked, as quoted in a report by Digital Spy.

A Unique Connection Beyond Romance
Despite the dismissal of a romantic angle, Simons acknowledged the undeniable bond between Sasha and Morgan.“One of the things that we talked about is that, whether it’s romantic or not, there’s a connection between those two people.

Renewal and Creator’s Vision
Following its renewal announcement, creator Erin Foster expressed excitement over the continuation of the series.“Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me.
