Weather Update: The heat has broken records since the beginning of April in the country. Temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius have been recorded in 21 cities of five states including Delhi.

Weather Forecast: This time the heat across the country has broken records since the beginning of April. Temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius have been recorded in 21 cities of five states including Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, the capital Delhi will have to face severe heat for the next three days. Apart from Delhi, heat wave conditions persist in many parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha. The Meteorological Department says that the temperature is being felt more due to the drop in wind speed. Today (Monday) the morning wind speed is likely to be 8-10 kilometers per hour, which may decrease to 4-6 kilometers per hour by noon.

Heat record broken in Barmer

The maximum temperature in Barmer, Rajasthan on Sunday was recorded at 45.6 degrees Celsius, which is the highest temperature so far in the first week of April. This is 6.8 degrees above normal.

Heat wave alert in Gujarat and other states

The Meteorological Department has warned of heat wave in some parts of Gujarat from 6 to 10 April. The situation may become more serious especially in the areas of Saurashtra and Kutch. Apart from this, possibility of heat wave has also been predicted in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Western Uttar Pradesh.

How will the weather be from 6 to 11 April?

  • 6 April: max 40°C, min 20°C
  • 7 April: max 41°C, min 21°C
  • 8 April: max 41°C, min 22°C
  • 9-11 April: max 40°C, min 22°C

Heat effect in eastern states too

Heat wave is likely to occur in Uttar Pradesh (eastern region), Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha on April 10 and 11. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for these states.

People are advised to be extra cautious

Due to the strong hot winds and humidity, people have been advised to be extra cautious. They have been instructed to avoid going out during the afternoon and drink more water.
