Following a triple murder in the Fatehpur district, Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), attacked the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday, saying it was not doing enough to maintain the state’s peace and order. “In Uttar Pradesh, instances of exploitation and oppression over trivial matters have become commonplace,” the former chief minister said in a post on X. Three members of a Kshatriya/Thakur farming family and a Dalit person were recently brutally killed in the Fatehpur area.

Many locals are in a state of widespread worry and terror as a result of this. Mayawati called for prompt and strict action from the UP government in a follow-up article. “To provide prompt justice for the victim’s family, the Uttar Pradesh government must pursue strong legal action against the offenders. Enhancing the state’s general condition of law and order must also be a priority, she said.

The murders, which happened Tuesday morning in Akhri village, which is within the boundaries of the Hathgam police station, are said to have been caused by a long-standing political rivalry in the community.

Police claim that Vinod Singh, also known as Pappu Singh, his brother Anoop Singh, also known as Pinku Singh, and Vinod’s son Abhay Pratap Singh were all instantly killed when a group of attackers, allegedly led by former village chief Suresh Singh, also known as Munnu Singh, opened fire on the district vice-president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU).
