Egypt views this action as a flagrant and intolerable breach of international law, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Egypt also reiterated its complete support for UNRWA, its work, and the essential services it offers in all of its operational areas, including East Jerusalem.

The ministry further stressed that it is impossible to undercut or replace the UN agency’s essential services to Palestinian refugees. Egypt’s opposition to the current systematic effort against UNRWA and its mission was emphasised.

Egypt’s commitment to protecting the rights of Palestinian refugees and the intrinsic rights of the Palestinian people, including the right of return, was also emphasised in the statement.
