On April 11, the Building Construction Department will begin a special inspection campaign to evaluate the quality of the Panchayat Government Buildings’ continuing construction. This work has been given to 87 assistant engineers who are presently allocated to different divisions. These engineers will examine buildings in divisions other than their own and report back to headquarters with comprehensive findings.

112 blocks and 345 panchayats will be covered by the inspection effort. Building Construction Secretary Kumar Ravi presided over a review meeting where this decision was made. Officials told the secretary at the meeting that 136 buildings’ ground floors had been finished, while 651 structures’ development had advanced to the plinth level. Nine Panchayat Government Buildings are now undergoing completion.

The Panchayat Government Buildings programme is a state government priority effort, Secretary Kumar Ravi emphasised. He gave the order that construction must closely follow quality standards and guidelines. Additionally, he cautioned that if construction did not advance, harsh action would be taken and directed all senior engineers to personally oversee contractors’ work in their respective divisions.

He also emphasised the need for frequent uploads of building progress information to the PSB webpage. He promised that any complaints over the calibre of the building would be taken very seriously and that the relevant authorities will face the consequences.

The construction of all structures is expected to be finished by June. Chief engineers and other important staff members were among the senior departmental executives who took part in the online conference.
