New Delhi: Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli etched his name in IPL history on Thursday (April 10) by becoming the first-ever player to smash 1000 boundaries in the prestigious T20 league. A veteran of the tournament Kohli is one of only four players to have appeared in all 18 IPL seasons. Across 257 matches he has struck 721 fours and cleared the ropes with 279 sixes setting a new benchmark for consistency and dominance in the league. Virat Kohli reached the milestone of 1000 boundaries in the IPL by launching a six off DC captain Axar Patel on the third delivery of the fourth over during RCBs innings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Kohli already tops the chart for the most fours struck in IPL history. When it comes to sixes he currently trails only Chris Gayle (357) and Rohit Sharma (282). If Kohli manages to clear the ropes five times in this match hell surpass Rohit to claim the second spot on that elite list. Additionally the highest run-getter in IPL history is also on the verge of another milestone—he could become just the second cricketer ever to notch up 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket. With 99 fifties already under his belt Kohli needs just one more to join David Warner in this exclusive club provided he scores 50 or more in Thursdays game.
