User charges from Rs 50 to Rs 5000
The Municipal Corporation has fixed different user charges according to the size and use of the property for garbage collection from the house. According to this, a user charge of Rs 50 per month will be levied on residential houses up to 50 square meters. Rs 100 will be levied on residential houses of 50 to 200 square meters and Rs 200 per month will be levied on residential houses of more than 200 square meters. Rs 100 will be levied on street vendors.
User charges will be different on commercial buildings.
According to the new rule brought by the Delhi government, separate charges have been fixed for commercial units. A user charge of Rs 500 per month will be levied on shops, dhabas, and coffee houses. A user charge of Rs 2000 per month will be levied on guest houses, wedding halls, banks, potty lawns, and restaurants with a capacity of more than 50 people. A user charge of up to Rs 5000 will be levied on commercial units larger than this. Let us tell you, Delhi Municipal Corporation spends more than Rs 1000 crore on waste management. At the same time, the Municipal Corporation has a liability of Rs 14000 crore. Officials say that the municipal corporation is expected to get additional revenue of Rs 150 crore annually from user charges.
