Marvel Rivals is kicking into gear with a new season, but later on down the line we're set to bear witness to the age of Ultron with the supervillian's arrival as a playable character.

Season 2 is finally making its final landing adjustments, and players are already gearing up to play the . There’s plenty in store for players in the new season, set to offer heroes glitz and glamour in the Hellfire Gala and its accompanying stuffed to the brim with fineries. The season is going to be a big deal, but as revealed by last season, the game also takes its mid-season period seriously.

Taking the season Reloaded system for itself, Marvel Rivals loves to get stuck in with more content for players before a total reset – and it’s at this point during Season 2 that we’ll be officially introduced to Ultron, the mechanical maniac hellbent on taking over the world. We’re all familiar with the character at this point since his appearance in his own movie, but the Marvel Rivals Ultron looks to steer into the chaotic and relentless sides of his synthetic personality that have been present in his appearances – and if leaks are to be trusted, his abilities will reflect this in a big way.

So, what exactly can we expect from the arrival of the new Marvel Rivals Ultron hero? Here’s what you need to know.

Marvel Rivals Ultron is expected to join the game at the start of Season 2.5, which we can predict will be May 23, 2025. This is based on the fact that the first season’s halfway-point update came exactly six weeks after its initial launch, and if Season 2 follows the same release pattern, then this is the date that we can expect Ultron to arrive on based on the Marvel Rivals Season 2 release date.

Leaks have been flowing that have revealed the abilities screen for the Marvel Rivals Ultron hero, and they have revealed that the character is going to be a curious one. His character type hasn’t been revealed yet, but he is expected to be a Strategist character, and the first of his class to be able to fly. As shared by reputable leaker back in December 2024, here is the leaked list of abilities for the Marvel Rivals Ultron hero:

• Encephalo-Ray – Unleash a burning energy beam.

• Dynamic Flight – Fly quickly in the direction of movement and then enter a free-flight mode.

• Imperative: Patch – Command a Giant Drone to follow an ally, constantly healing allies in its radius, with additional healing for the designated ally.

• Imperative: Firewall – Summon drones to grant bonus health to allies within range, centred on himself and the ally marked with Imperative: Patch.

• Rage of Ultron (Ultimate) – Summon Ultron Drones to fire Encephalo-Rays, damaging enemies or healing allies.

• Algorithm Correction (Passive) – Hold Space to fall slowly.

We don’t have any confirmation of the new Marvel Rivals Ultron team-up abilities, but we can expect that will have some kind of crossover with the character (even though, if you’ll allow us to get nerdy about this, there’s a good chance that this version of the character was created by Hank Pym rather than Tony Stark).

Even without the knowledge of his team-ups, this is an interesting picture to paint for the arrival of Marvel Rivals Ultron, splicing in features that are reminiscent of the abilities of Moira and Zenyatta from . For a character made of only metal and mania, this is a relatively tempered playstyle, and though there’s more to learn, we could be in for a very measured and helpful character here. It’s not what we expected from Marvel Rivals Ultron, but hey, we’ll take it.
