Both HDFC and Kotak Mahindra Bank are upgrading their systems to ensure better performance, improved security, and a smoother digital experience for users. However, during the maintenance windows, several key services—especially related to UPI and digital transactions—will remain non-functional for a few hours.
HDFC Bank has announced that UPI transactions will not be available from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM on April 12. This includes a 4-hour blackout of several digital services.
UPI payments from HDFC savings and current accounts
UPI transactions using RuPay credit cards
HDFC Mobile Banking App transactions
UPI payments via third-party apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, etc., if linked with HDFC accounts
Merchant transactions processed through HDFC’s UPI gateway
Customers can use PayZapp, HDFC Bank’s own digital wallet, as an alternative during this time. PayZapp supports transactions via credit/debit cards, wallet balance, and even UPI, offering a partial workaround for the downtime.
Kotak Mahindra Bank will begin its system maintenance today from 1:00 PM and it will last until 4:00 AM on April 13. This means nearly 15 hours of restricted access to several digital services.
Mobile banking, Net banking, and Phone banking
Website login and all transaction features
Transaction-related requests such as:
Change in transaction limits
Activation or deactivation of cards
Card blocking or unblocking
Changing or linking primary accounts
Linking/delinking accounts
New card requests or closure of existing cards
PIN reset or regeneration
Tokenization services on Google Pay and Samsung Pay
Card verification services
Bank users are strongly advised to complete all essential transactions before the scheduled maintenance begins. Plan ahead if you have any urgent UPI payments or account updates pending.
This planned downtime is part of a broader initiative by banks to modernize their digital infrastructure, ensuring faster, safer, and more reliable banking experiences in the future.
