Bengaluru: To address the caste census, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has summoned Congress Party lawmakers from the Vokkaliga to a meeting on Tuesday.
The Deputy CM told reporters at the KPCC headquarters, “During the meeting, we will get the Vokkaliga MPs’ thoughts on the caste census. We are studying the caste census report, so I haven’t read it all. I would talk to lawmakers about the census and tell them to take into account the opinions of all communities. The DCM’s official house in Kumara Park will host the Vokkaliga parliamentarians’ meeting tonight at 6 p.m.
He said, “The SC/STs have reservations in contracts too,” in response to accusations that the Congress party was stealing the privileges of SC/STs by assigning reservations in contracts for religious minorities. Our top goal is to improve the lot of everyone who is economically disadvantaged. One party that seeks to provide justice to all facets of society is Congress.
“We have not snatched away anyone’s reservation,” he remarked in response to a question about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that the Congress party is stealing OBC reservations. A Bengaluru MP had disparaged a certain group by claiming they were only capable of fixing a flat tyre. We want to demonstrate that the community is capable of much more.”
In response to the PM’s comments earlier on April 14 condemning the minority contractor quota, the Deputy CM defended the state government’s reservation policy by claiming that Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) were also receiving reservations.
“We are also allowing SC/ST to make bookings. Raising the economically disadvantaged and integrating them into society is our goal. We intend to do this. Every segment of society is being taken into consideration by the Congress party and the Congress administration, Shivakumar told reporters.
In his assault on the Congress in Hisar, the prime minister said that his administration was pursuing social justice and connection while guaranteeing the welfare of the impoverished and achieving Babasaheb Ambedkar’s vision and the goals of the farmers of the Constitution.
He said that Babasaheb Ambedkar was humiliated, that the Congress Party planned his two election setbacks, and that they plotted to keep him out of the system while he was still alive.
