The Sealdah Rajdhani Express earned Rs 1288169274 in the 2022-23 fiscal year carrying 509164 passengers. The Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express which runs between New Delhi and Dibrugarh in Assam is Indias third most profitable trains earning Rs 1262909697 and carrying 474605 passengers in FY 2022-23. The Mumbai Tejas Rajdhani Express sits at the fourth spot among Indian Railways top earners. The train which carried over 485794 passengers from New Delhi and Mumbai Central and vice-versa in the 2022-23 fiscal earned Rs 122 crore during the period. While new modern trains like the Vande Bharat have undoubtedly strengthened Indias rail network but its the workhorses like Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express which continue to remain the backbone of Indian Railways.
