No More FASTag: There is going to be a big change for those traveling on the national highways of the country. The central government will launch a new satellite -based toll collection system from May 1, 2025, instead of fastag. Giving information about this, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the new toll policy will be introduced in the next 15 days and it will be satisfactory for passengers.
The new toll system that the government is talking about is called Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). It is a GPS -based system, in which the location of the vehicle will be tracked with the help of satellite and based on the toll fee will be deducted directly from the bank account according to the distance. This means that no longer need to wait at the toll plaza.
Although the fastag system involves digital payments rather than cash, the vehicle still has to stop while passing through the toll booth. As a result, long queues often occur. At the same time, the GNSS system works through a virtual toll booth. In this, the toll is calculated on the basis of the distance fixed by the vehicle and it is paid directly from the bank account.
If you are already a fastag user, there is no need to panic. The government is slowly moving towards the new GPS-based toll system. This change will make your toll journey more easier than ever, more transparent and more hi -tech.
Continue using fastags by 30 April 2025. After this, install GPS devices approved by the government in your vehicle. Connect your bank account to this new system. Remove the fastag stickers when the system is completely operational.
You will not have to wait at the toll booth. Improving road safety by reducing fuel consumption and pollution, traveling without stopping. Toll cuts and complete transparency in billing.
This change is considered to be the largest milestone ever in India's highway system. This system can be convenient for all from private car owners to trucks and transport sectors.
The government is preparing to launch an awareness campaign to install GPS and to give information about the new system. After May 1, when you travel, the experience of toll payment will change completely and that too in a smart way.
