Škoda’s seven-seater luxury 4×4 SUV, the Kodiaq, made its debut in India in 2017. Škoda Auto India, marking 25 years in India and posting its best-ever sales in the country in March, announced that bookings for the second generation Škoda Kodiaq were open from Thursday.
The 4×4 Indian flagship Škoda is powered by a 2.0 TSI engine outputting 150kW and 320Nm of torque, through a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission. Built on the MQB37, the Kodiaq is available in two variants—Sportline and Selection L&K, both assembled in India at the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant.
The highlight is that the second-gen Kodiaq boasts an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 14.86km per litre, despite it being 59mm longer than its previous generation model.
The Škoda Kodiaq gen-2 is 4,758mm long and stands 1,679mm tall, 1,864mm wide. With a wheelbase of 2,791mm, the SUV stands 155mm off the ground. The three-row luxury 4×4 offers 281 litres of luggage space. And if you fold the third-row seats to the floor, it expands to a staggering 786 litres. Take the rear rows down, and it transforms to 1,976 litres!
The ‘Sportline’ variant features an all-black sporty décor while the ‘Selection L&K’ trim offers premium cognac leather upholstery. The second-gen Kodiaq comes with a 32.77-cm infotainment system and ergonomic enhancements such as the gear-selector moved behind the steering wheel.
The SUV features 9 airbags, a sliding panoramic sunroof, and a 725W Canton sound system with 13 speakers and a sub-woofer. Rolling sunblinds in the rear windows add to the oomph and comfort.
With six colour options—Moon White, Magic Black, Graphite Grey, Velvet Red, and Race Blue—Kodiaq also has an exclusive Bronx Gold for the ‘Selection L&K’ trim and an exclusive Steel Grey for the ‘Sportline’ variant.
So, how much does it cost? The Škoda Kodiaq ‘Sportline’ variant starts at ₹46.89 lakh ex-showroom while the ‘Selection L&K’ trim begins at ₹48.69 lakh ex-showroom. It also comes with a standard warranty of 5 years or 125,000kms (whichever is earlier) and 10-year complimentary roadside assistance (RSA) on offer. The company is also offering Škoda Supercare—a standard maintenance package for no cost to the customer in the first year of purchase.
The Škoda Kodiaq continues the carmaker’s tradition of naming its ICE SUVs starting with K and ending with Q, much like the Kushaq and Kylaq. The Kodiaq also derives its name from the Kodiak bear which is found in the Kodiak archipelago in Alaska, according to the company.
