Recent rumors of the cancellation of Pakistan’s prestigious Lux Style Awards this year proved to be unfounded.

Since 2001, the Lux Style Awards have been an annual tradition of celebrating success in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. With 22 successful editions under its belt, fans were eagerly awaiting the 23rd ceremony with great anticipation.

To be hosted on May 7 in Lahore, the event seeks to pay tribute to the nation’s hardest working and best artists again.

But things became confusing when an Instagram post from showbiz magazine Diva Pakistan stated that the 2025 Lux Style Awards had been cancelled. The post expressed gratitude towards sponsors, partners, and supporters, indicating that unexpected circumstances had resulted in the cancellation of the event, citing security reasons supposedly.

This infuriated fans of the nominated artists. Many expressed their disappointment on social media, calling the alleged decision unprofessional and biased. Some pointed out the absence of entertainment award shows in Pakistan and raised questions over how the industry could prosper in such a scenario. Others drew unfavorable comparisons with neighboring nations.

One of the users complained, “There are already very few platforms that acknowledge talent here. Canceling this too is a setback for the entire industry.” Another one sarcastically said, “We love to compare ourselves to India, but we can’t even handle one decent award show.”

But the reports were soon discredited by a reliable entertainment journalist, who asserted that the news was untrue. Confirming this, Diva Pakistan also removed the initial post from its Instagram handle.

With the uncertainty removed, fans can now look forward to the 23rd Lux Style Awards, which will proceed as scheduled.
