The Indian ship Tarini is returning home after Navika Sagar Parikrama II

According to an official statement released by the Indian Navy on Friday, the Indian ship INSV Tarini, which was aboard the Navika Sagar Parikrama II, is now headed home.

The Indian Navy reported that the crew successfully traversed the three main Capes—Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin, and Cape Horn—as well as the treacherous seas of the Southern Ocean.

The Navy said on X: “Navika Sagar Parikrama II-INSV Tarini is headed home! Another significant milestone in the crew’s incredible circumnavigation expedition has been reached with their successful crossing of the famous Cape of Good Hope.

Fuelled by adventure and dedication, the crew is now blazing a path for India after successfully navigating the treacherous seas of the Southern Ocean and passing through the three main Capes: Cape Horn, Cape Leeuwin, and Cape of Good Hope.

This amazing accomplishment sets a new standard for Indian sailing and inspires a country by showcasing the crew’s extraordinary seamanship, tenacity, and collaboration. India’s increasing involvement in international maritime discovery and adventure is shown by the crew’s voyage, the Navy said.

The last part of the Navika Sagar Parikrama II voyage began on April 15, 2025, when INSV Tarini was ceremoniously launched off from the Royal Cape Yacht Club in Cape Town, according to a Ministry of Defence news release.

Prominent dignitaries, including the Defence Attache of India to South Africa, the Officiating Consul General of India in Cape Town, members of the RCYC Governing Council, and representatives of the Indian community in Cape Town, attended the send-off, which began at 10:30 am local time (1400 hours IST).

According to the press release, INSV Tarini is anticipated to successfully complete this momentous and uplifting trip by arriving in Goa by the end of May 2025.

As it forges forward for women in the maritime sector, the Navika Sagar Parikrama II is a testament to India’s dedication to women’s empowerment, nautical excellence, and patriotism.
