An exclusive art residency showcase featuring the celebrated London-based multidisciplinary artist Adebayo Bolaji , ‘Origin’ captivated Jaipur's art-lovers. Held at Sattva Theatre & Art Amphitheater, the showcase was organised by Sattva Theatre & Art in collaboration with Pirovano Art Management.
The event offered an intimate insight into the artist’s journey through Jaipur and his creative reflections on cultural differences and shared human experiences. "At its core, ‘Origin’ is an artistic experimentation in exploring and celebrating differences. It poses thought-provoking questions: does difference need to separate humanity or can it provide an opportunity for one to learn, grow and find more freedom of expression, wisdom and vibrancy in humanity? Are we more connected despite these differences," shared Renuka Kumar., founder and director of Sattva Theatre & Art, Amphitheater. The organization is committed to promoting artists, musicians, theatre, and cultural workshops in Jaipur and Delhi. It is nestled amongst Neem trees and a serene green space, with an atmosphere ideal for Artists to work and spend time creating their own magic.
Over the course of one month, Adebayo Bolaji has been on a residency, engaging with Jaipur’s rich culture and allowing the city to inform his creative practice by using art as a language. Talking about the theme of ‘difference’ in the showcase, Bolaji said, “I grew up different by being in circles where on the face of it I was separated from others using things like culture and I have also worked in creative environments that on the surface have seemed different but when I looked closer, I found a law of nature that seemed to unite humanity ironically through difference itself. Difference means that the unfamiliar can sometimes produce fear. But the continual findings of connectivity between us all push me to keep exploring new spaces to further educate myself on our humanity and that maybe there is no need to be afraid of ourselves” Bolaji is being accompanied by Roxana Pirovano, an esteemed art curator from Europe, who has been instrumental in shaping this unique artistic residency.
