Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar on Friday made history during his team's IPL 2025 match against Punjab Kings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Patidar scored 23 runs off 18 balls, causing RCB to face five wickets against Punjab Kings in the rain -interrupted match.
Although his team lost, RCB captain Patidar achieved a personal achievement during the game. 31 -year -old Patidar became the second fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in IPL history after Sai Sudarshan. Patidar overtook Sachin Tendulkar, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Verma for the incredible IPL achievement.
Patidar scored 1000 IPL runs in 30 innings, while Sai Sudarshan achieved this feat in just 25 innings.

RCB currently ranks third in the IPL 2025 points table, one place above its rival PBKS.
After the defeat against Punjab Kings, RCB slipped to fourth place in the points table with four wins and three defeats in seven matches. On the other hand, Punjab Kings have moved to second place with 10 points, which have won five out of seven matches so far. The RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, will again face Punjab Kings in its reverse match in Mulanpur on Sunday.
