In order to reduce air pollution, the Noida Authority placed mist sprayers along a 700-meter section of DSC Road between sector 15 and sector 16 metro stations. According to authorities, the setup, which is overseen by the waterworks department of the authority, consists of 13 poles, each of which has six nozzles that distribute fine water mist.
The mist system sprays RO-treated water every ten minutes from 8 am to 11 am and from 6 pm to 9 pm. A 5,000-liter tank that is linked to an ROO plant and controlled by an automated control panel provides the 30 liters of water that each of the 13 polesneedsd each hour. Lowering ambient temperatures during peak hours and reducing dust pollution are the goals of the effort. According to authorities, the system improves the area’s air quality by dispersing fine water mist, which helps settle airborne pollutants likeallergenss and road dust.
Notably, DSC Road passes under the elevated Metro route, which facilitates the installation of the equipment required for the mist sprayers.
We saw a recent pilot project in New Delhi that improved the quality of the air by installing 15 mist sprayers on electrical poles along a 500-meter section of Lodhi Road. Following the Delhi initiative’s success, we made the decision to duplicate the effort in order to reduce air pollution in the Noida districts. To enhance the city’s air quality, we will also implement this initiative in other locations,” said RP Singh, general manager of the Noida authority in charge of the waterworks division.
By lowering dependency on fuel-powered spraying trucks, the Rs 50-lakh initiative is anticipated to provide a sustainable substitute for conventional manual techniques, according to authorities. According to them, it enhances current pollution-control tools like mechanical road sweepers and anti-smog weapons that were purchased via the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).
“This expansion will be aimed at lowering fuel and maintenance costs for spraying vehicles, providing a more automated and sustainable solution for improving Noida’s air quality,” Singh said.
