South Indian Celebrities Pay Tribute to Pope Francis Following His Passing

Tributes Pour In for Pope Francis


Chennai: The passing of Pope Francis at the age of 88 on Easter Monday has prompted an outpouring of condolences from various figures in the South Indian film industry, including Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Union Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum, Suresh Gopi.


Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is also a producer and former actor, expressed his sorrow in a heartfelt message, stating, “The sudden loss of Pope Francis is deeply saddening. His departure is a significant loss for the Catholic community and beyond. He embodied peace, compassion, and humanity. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire future generations. #PopeFrancis.”


Suresh Gopi also shared his condolences on social media, saying, “I mourn the loss of Pope Francis. My heartfelt condolences go out to the global Catholic community. His legacy of love and service will inspire many. May his soul rest in peace and guide us towards kindness and understanding.”




Numerous other celebrities from the South Indian film fraternity have also shared their condolences.


Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu took to social media to express his sadness, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. He was a symbol of compassion and peace, touching millions with his grace. The world has lost a spiritual giant. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”


Actress and politician Gautami Tadimalla also shared her thoughts, saying, “I mourn the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, a beacon of spiritual hope and a gentle reformer. His mercy and dedication to uplifting the marginalized will inspire humanity for generations. My deepest condolences to the Catholic community, and I pray that his soul may rest in God.”
