Actor Benjamin Yuen has attributed his absence from TVB’s programming in recent years to a major reshuffle within the broadcasting network’s executive team.

According to The Starin a recent online program hosted by lyricist Gary Yeung, Yuen said: “It’s the company’s arrangement. There’s nothing I can do. This is my fate.”

Once one of TVB’s most visible stars, Yuen was known for appearing in up to three dramas a year at the peak of his career. In 2024, however, he starred in just two series—”No Room for Crime” and “Forensic Heroes 6″— marking a significant drop in activity.

“After the executives were replaced and the entire system was changed, those who gave me jobs left, so I had to start from scratch,” Yuen explained.

He added that he now takes on only one to two dramas per year, and acknowledged that other artists are also struggling under the current management structure.

Yuen joins a growing number of TVB stars voicing concerns about the shrinking number of opportunities at the station. In 2023, actress Sandra Ng—once dubbed Hong Kong’s “box office queen”—said she left the network due to low pay. Actress Ali Lee also cited limited roles as the reason for her departure.

Yuen, 44, rose to fame after winning the Mr. Hong Kong pageant in 2007. Over the years, he has collected multiple accolades, including three TVB Anniversary Awards and two TVB Star Awards Malaysia.
