China has launched its first commercial 10-gigabit (10G) broadband network at Sunan County, Habai province. This project has been prepared by Huawei and China Unicom. Its aim is to give people such internet speed which was just a dream.

How fast is this speed?
According to The Economic Times, the download speed of this network is around 9,834 Mbps (about 10GBPS) and upload speed up to 1,008 Mbps.
The latcy of the network is also only 3 milliseconds-that is, data is almost transferred to real-time.

This superfast network is based on 50G passive Optical Network (Pon) technology. The special thing is that with the help of this technology, the speed has been increased manifold by using the existing fiber-optic system, without laying a new cable.
