Arsenal's next transfer revealed as shock £60m U-turn emerges with sell-on clause

defender Nuno Tavares is reportedly set to join Lazio on a permanent deal at the conclusion of his season-long loan at the Italian side.

after spending last season with Nottingham Forest. Tavares has played 28 times for Marco Baroni's side and has largely impressed.

The clause in the move to Rome included an obligation to buy permanently if the Portuguese played 50% of Lazio's games. Now, an update from Italy has claimed the club are pushing for a quick move.

The report does add, however, that Lazio are considering signing Tavares early in the window so they can sell him on for a profit. It's said the fee they would have to pay is in the region of £7.6million with the Gunners currently holding a sell-on clause worth between 20% and 40% in his current contract.

A permanent move to Italy would see Arsenal bank a small fee for the initial move as well as the reported profit from his move from Lazio, should he seal a permanent switch.

Earlier this season, for close to £60m in the summer. "I won't sell him - even for €70m (£58.9m)," he said. "We have fought off a lot of competition from big clubs for the full-back."
