Kheda: According to the police, six young family members—the majority of them were cousins—drowned in the Meshwo river in the Kheda area on Wednesday night in a terrible occurrence.

According to a senior police official, a crew from the Nadiad Fire Brigade arrived at the scene close to Kanij village after learning of the occurrence and pulled all six corpses from the river.

In the evening, six siblings—including cousins—went to bathe in a river close to Kanij hamlet, where they all perished. “Operations were conducted to remove them once the team arrived,” Rajesh Gadhiya, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kheda, told reporters.

Every body was submitted for a post-mortem. The victims had traveled from Ahmedabad’s Naroda to spend the holidays at their maternal uncle’s home in the area.
