The people of Bihar, who were suffering from the intense heat, were relieved Thursday by an unexpected burst of rain and hail.
The state’s temperature dropped as a result of rain and hail.
This shift is just the start of a broader weather pattern driven by the combination of moist winds from the Bay of Bengal and a western disturbance, according to the Meteorological Centre in Patna.
All 38 of Bihar’s districts are anticipated to get rain tomorrow, with the southern and eastern districts—Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Purnea—particularly likely to see moderate to heavy rainfall and lightning strikes.
Thursday was predicted to bring thunderstorms; light to moderate rainfall, with wind gusts of 30 to 40 km/h across the state.
Residents are advised by officials to remain inside during thunderstorms, ideally in concrete structures, and to keep away from open fields, clay dwellings, and standing under trees or electrical poles.
During bad weather, farmers are explicitly encouraged to avoid going into fields and to avoid water bodies.
It is predicted that southern and eastern Bihar will have heavy rain on Thursday, while northern districts like Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, and Supaul will see mild to moderate rain.
In eastern and southern Bihar, sporadic rain is predicted from May 3–5, with temperatures reaching 35–37 degrees Celsius.
After affecting Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, the director of the Meteorological Centre highlighted that a fresh western disturbance may cause ongoing meteorological instability in Bihar.
Although not unexpected, this year’s pre-monsoon rainfall is more heavy and extensive because of the confluence of meteorological systems.
Although it provides relief from the heat and may help farmers and the environment, care should be taken because of the possibility of lightning and strong winds.
All 38 districts are expected to have rain, according to the Meteorological Department’s estimate, however some may be more severely hit than others. There will be moderate to heavy rainfall in Bhagalpur, Munger, Katihar, Purnea, and Saharsa in eastern Bihar.
Patna, Gaya, Aurangabad, and Bhojpur in southern Bihar are expected to see mild to moderate rain along with lightning and thunder.
