New Rules From 1st May: On the first day of every month, the government changes many rules. Prices of everything from gas cylinders to petrol-diesel are decided on this day. Apart from these, many financial changes are happening from today i.e. 1st May, which will have a direct impact on your pocket. You may have to spend more money on Amul milk, which is the most consumed milk in the country. Let's know which rules are changing from today.

After Mother Dairy and Verka brand, Amul has also increased the price of milk by Rs 2 per liter across the country. The new prices will come into effect from tomorrow i.e. Thursday, 01 May. The prices of Amul Standard, Amul Buffalo Milk, Amul Gold, Amul Slim and Trim, Amul Chai Maza, Amul Taaza and Amul Cow Milk have increased by Rs 2.

ATM transactions cost more

As per the new instructions of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the fee on each additional transaction after the prescribed free transaction limit from ATM has been increased from ₹21 to ₹23 from May 1, 2025. This fee will be applicable on both financial and non-financial transactions. Customers in metro cities get the facility of three free transactions from their bank's ATM and five in non-metro areas.

Changes in railway ticket booking rules
Indian Railways has made significant changes in the ticket booking process. Waiting tickets will no longer be valid in sleeper and AC coaches; travel on waiting tickets will be possible only in general coaches. Apart from this, the advance reservation period has been reduced from 120 days to 60 days.

Revision in LPG cylinder prices
LPG cylinder prices are reviewed on the first of every month. Prices of domestic and commercial cylinders are likely to change on May 1, 2025, which may impact the monthly budget of consumers.

Changes in ATF and CNG-PNG rates
Petroleum marketing companies review the rates of Air Turbine Fuel (ATF), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) at the beginning of every month. Prices of these fuels are likely to change from May 1, 2025, which may impact transportation and domestic use.

Possible changes in bank interest rates
After the recent cut in the repo rate by RBI, many banks have revised interest rates on fixed deposits (FDs) and savings accounts. These rates are likely to change further from May 1, 2025, which may impact investors and savers.

List of bank holidays
There will be a total of 12 days of bank holidays in May 2025 due to various festivals and weekends. These include Labor Day, Buddha Purnima, Maharana Pratap Jayanti, Sunday and second and fourth Saturdays. Customers are advised to plan their banking operations keeping these holidays in mind.
