Arsenal reportedly enquire about the availability of a Real Madrid star that has previously been linked with Manchester City.

Arsenal have reportedly identified a Real Madrid star as a potential summer transfer target.

The Gunners are currently focused on trying to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals and secure second place in the Premier League table.

However, with new sporting director Andrea Berta at the helm, there is likely to be plenty of activity once the market reopens in June.

Although there are several areas that ideally require strengthening, speculation will persist regarding the potential arrival of another world-class attacker, whether that be a versatile player or a traditional number nine.

According to ReliefArsenal have already enquired about the availability of one of Real Madrid’s star players.

Arsenal open to signing Brazil international?

The report alleges that the North Londoners have asked about Rodrygo in recent days to determine whether negotiating a summer deal is plausible.

Rodrygo has already cemented himself as a Real Madrid legend given that he has contributed 68 goals and 50 assists from his 268 appearances in all competitions.

Three La Liga titles and two Champions League crowns are among the 24-year-old’s 13 pieces of silverware at the Bernabeu, yet he has been far from his impressive best during 2024-25.

Although 11 goals and seven assists have come in top flight and European games, Rodrygo has not contributed either since March 4.

As such, Los Blancos are said to be considering a sale should a suitable offer materialise with Manchester City also said to be monitoring the situation.

Xabi Alonsothe likely next head coach of Real Madrid, will allegedly have a conversation with the player before everyone decides on their next move.

What is Rodrygo’s current stance?

Despite regular talk of a move elsewhere, the Brazil international has only ever stressed that he wishes to remain at Real Madrid for many years to come.

That stance is expected to remain the same for the time being, and playing under a different manager may only help him recapture his previous form.

On the flip side, Real may jump at the chance to cash in on his services should an offer in the region of €100m (£85.19m) be made in due course.

Whether Arsenal would be prepared to offer that remains to be seen, with several players sales likely required to facilitate such a deal.
