The exercise will take place even as tensions with Pakistan are on the rise and civil defence drills are taking place at sensitive locations. Sources said that the exercise will take place over Rajasthan, adjoining the Pakistan border, and will involve Mirage 2000 fighters as well.

A notice to airmen has been issued earmarking a large area for the exercise. The notice warns that the area would be restricted from Wednesday afternoon till Thursday night. Pakistan has been conducting several air exercises on its territory for the past few days after its political leadership announced fears that an attack by India is imminent.

India too has been flexing its muscles with a range of live firing drills and exercises.
