Pakistan Claims: Its Economic Affairs Division’s account on social media platform X has been hacked

Islamabad: Pakistan has referred to the post requesting further loans from the world community after suffering losses as a result of India’s Operation Sindoor as “fake.” The country claims that its Economic Affairs Division account on the social networking site X was compromised.

In the article, the Pakistani government urged foreign partners to offer further financing, citing India’s Operation Sindoor’s ongoing damage to the terrorist infrastructure and its support system in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. As the markets were plunging, it also urged foreign allies to assist in defusing the situation.

A photo of the message was posted on X by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fact Checker, which also described it as “fake.” Additionally, it said that “The account was hacked.”

Nonetheless, it is evident that Pakistan’s economy is in dire straits. With an outstanding debt of almost USD 8.8 billion, Pakistan is the fourth-largest debtor in the IMF. Moody’s cautioned Monday that a prolonged increase in tension with India might negatively affect Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability, fiscal consolidation, and development.

The Indian Army said that repeated drone assaults and ceasefire breaches by Pakistan along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir were effectively repulsed and forcefully reacted to by the Indian Army during the intervening nights of May 8 and May 9.

According to the Indian Army, “On the intervening night of May 8 and 9, 2025, the Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks along the entire Western Border using drones and other munitions.” Along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani forces also engaged in a number of ceasefire violations (CFVs). The drone strikes were successfully repelled, and the CFVs received a suitable response. The Indian Army is still dedicated to defending the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Every malicious scheme shall be met with force.

According to sources who spoke to thea, the report. the Indian Army conducted a massive counter-drone operation at the LoC and International Borders (IB) earlier on Thursday, shooting down over 50 Pakistani drones.

During the night of May 7-8, the Indian Armed Forces also effectively neutralized an Air Defense system in Lahore and prevented Pakistani forces from launching a massive drone and missile strike on many Indian military facilities in Northern and Western India.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, speaking at a press conference held by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday, said that the threats had been effectively neutralized by India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defense systems. She said that the Indian Armed Forces hit many air defense radars and systems across Pakistan this morning in retaliation for Pakistan’s attempted strikes.

“The Indian Armed Forces attacked many Air Defense Radars and installations in Pakistan this morning. The Indian retaliation has been as intense as Pakistan’s in the same area. An air defense system in Lahore has been neutralized, according to trustworthy information,” she said.

Pakistan tried to use drones and missiles to attack several military targets in Northern and Western India on the evening of May 07–08, 2025, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. The Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defense systems eliminated them. According to Colonel Qureshi, the wreckage of these assaults is now being retrieved from many sites that attest to the Pakistani attacks.
