Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): TT Nagar police on Tuesday arrested two persons in connection with the tragic incident at Banganga Crossing where a school bus mowed down commuters resulting in the death of a BAMS intern, Ayesha Khan and injuring several others on Monday morning.
The arrested duo has made an affidavit after the mishap in a back date to avoid responsibility into the tragic incident caused due to negligence. The fitness and insurance of the bus have expired and it was being run illegally on city roads.
In-charge at TT Nagar police station Sudhir Arjaria said documents related to the bus were scanned after mishap. It came to the fore that an affidavit was prepared on May 11 in which Pradeep Pandey was shown as the seller while Pravesh Nagar was the buyer of the school bus.
However, further investigations revealed that the document was prepared fraudulently in the back date after the mishap took place. An FIR was registered against the duo for fraud and other relevant sections of BNS and they have been arrested. However, the bus driver identified as Vishal Bairagi is still at large.
It is worth mentioning that Pradeep Pandey is the member of the educational trust which runs the bus. It came to light that the bus was presently run by Pravesh Nagar even as its fitness expired in November 2024 and insurance was not renewed.
Police officials said that the condition of other persons injured in the mishap was out of danger. A CCTV footage of the incident showed that the bus ramming into vehicles at Banganga Crossing.
Ayesha Khan (30) was dragged several metres after her scooter was hit by the bus and died on the spot. Investigations revealed that the bus was in a dilapidated condition and its brakes failed.
