Jaisalmer: The heat in Rajasthan has broken all records. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for the state and warned that there is no hope of relief from the scorching heat for the next 5 days.
The temperature of Jaisalmer has reached 48 degrees Celsius, while the temperature recorded in Churu has been fully affected by a recorded temperature of 45 degrees. The scorching afternoon and heat stroke have made the roads deserted, as if curfew has been imposed in the day itself.
According to the Meteorological Department, mercury remains between 44 and 48 degrees in many districts of Rajasthan. Hot winds and dried weather have scorched the state. Areas like Jaisalmer and Barmer have been recording a temperature of up to 48 degrees for the last three days, due to which the common people are very upset.
Local people are coming out with pots, umbrellas and water bottles to protect themselves. But since 11 pm, there is silence on the roads. The heat is so intense that getting out of the house looks like putting itself in danger.
According to the IMD report, there is a situation of heatwave in divisions like Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner. By 5:30 pm, the average humidity in the state was recorded between 20 and 40 percent, making the heat more unbearable. Here, IMD has informed that the effect of scorching heat will remain in Rajasthan till 27 May, while in Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir till 26 May.
On the other hand, good news has come from the southern part of the country. The southwest monsoon in Kerala has knocked prematurely. It usually reaches around June 1, but this time the monsoon came on 24 May.

According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the coastal areas of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra for the next 7 days. Kerala may receive extremely heavy rainfall during May 24-26. Along with this, strong rains have also been predicted in the ghat areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
