UP Police Recruitment 2025: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at a historic ceremony on June 15, 2025, in Lucknow distributed the appointment letters among 60,244 fresh recruits — the biggest-ever state-level police recruitment exercise in India.
The Vrindavan Yojana's Defence Expo Ground saw the modernisation and increase of UP's police force, where 12,048 women constables were also among those hired. For the Civil Police Direct Recruitment‑2023, more than 48 lakh applicants put themselves forward – a total of 48,196 men and 12,048 women – highlighting a strong female presence.
After the ceremony, the recruits will receive formal induction training at refurbished police academies with advanced facilities, complementing the state's attempts to establish a professional and inclusive law enforcement force.
Why exam was cancelled?
This campaign followed a turbulent recruiting cycle: a question paper leak caused a cancellation of a February 2024 exam, leading to an August 2024 re-conduct under revised procedures. Under the direction of DGP Rajeev Krishna, the recruiting board set strict technology standards for 1,174 urban exam sites including biometric scans, CCTV-monitored OMR scanning, RFID monitoring, and Aadhaar verification, to provide a clear and effective process.
UPPRPB 2025: Selection process
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) carried out the UP Police Constable Recruitment Examination 2023 to cover 60,244 openings in the Civil Police. Starting with an objective-type written test covering topics including General Knowledge, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and General Hindi, the selection procedure.
There were 150 questions in the test, totalling 300 marks; negative marking was applied for wrong responses. Applicants chosen for document verification following the written test had to go through a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and a last medical assessment.
What's Next?
After getting their appointment letters, new hires will receive formal police training before becoming full members of the Uttar Pradesh Police Force. This recruitment effort has been recognized as a model for transparency, efficiency, and the use of technology in large-scale government hiring.
