OnePlus is all set to refresh its mid-range smartphone lineup with the launch of the OnePlus Nord 5 and OnePlus Nord CE 5. The devices will launch in India on July 8, 2025. The company has officially announced that the launch will take place during its OnePlus Summer Launch Event, scheduled for 2 PM IST. Alongside the Nord series smartphones, OnePlus will also unveil the OnePlus Buds 4 wireless earphones.
While there are still days to go before the official unveiling, the buzz around the upcoming OnePlus launch is getting much hype. The company has also teased that the upcoming phones will promise a "significant leap forward in mid-range smartphone performance". In fact, the company claims that the OnePlus Nord series will allow users to get "flagship-grade power accessible to consumers." Meanwhile, the upcoming OnePlus Buds 4 are touted to provide users "with flagship sound quality."
OnePlus has also been teasing some core specifications and features of the Nord 5 series. Meanwhile, leaks have further filled in the gaps, giving us a pretty good picture of what to expect from these upcoming devices. Let's have a look.
OnePlus Nord 5 specifications
The OnePlus Nord 5 is officially confirmed to be the first Nord phone powered by a Snapdragon 8-series chipset. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
In terms of display, the Nord 5 is expected to feature a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a full-HD+ resolution of 2800 x 1272 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is also confirmed to support up to 144Hz gaming, with titles like Call of Duty: Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) reportedly running at a smooth 144fps using frame interpolation.
OnePlus is also including LPDDR5X RAM, likely with 8GB and 12GB variants, along with 256GB or 512GB storage options. A 5,200mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC charging is expected globally, while in India, a larger 6,600mAh unit may be on the cards.
On the camera front, leaks suggest the Nord 5 will come with a 50-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens on the back, along with a 50-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. The phone is also tipped to carry an IP65 rating and is already confirmed to get OnePlus's Cryo-Velocity VC cooling system with a 7,300mm heat dissipation area - similar to the flagship OnePlus 13.
OnePlus Nord CE 5 specifications
Meanwhile, the more affordable sibling - the Nord CE 5 - will arrive for users who want solid performance at a lower price. The device is rumoured to sport a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and full-HD+ resolution. It's expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.
For photography, it is likely to share the same 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual rear camera setup as the Nord 5. However, on the front, it could get a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. The CE 5 may offer a 5,200mAh battery globally, while the Indian variant could feature an even larger 7,100mAh cell. Like its sibling, it's expected to support 80W fast charging.
The phone's design has already been revealed by OnePlus, and it takes cues from the China-exclusive OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra - with vertically aligned cameras and a sleek, minimalist aesthetic. As for the distinctive visual appeal, the Nord 5 may be offered in Dry Ice, Marble Sands, and Phantom Grey colour variants, while the Nord CE 5 is tipped to come in Black Infinity and Marble Mist.
OnePlus Buds 4 to join the smartphone lineup
Alongside the Nord series, OnePlus will also introduce the Buds 4 wireless earphones. The earbuds are expected to offer a premium audio experience with dual drivers, dual DACs, Hi-Res LHDC 5.0, 3D Audio support, and ultra-low 47ms latency in Game Mode. Colour options include Zen Green and Storm Grey.
