BBC Breakfast has reportedly been rife with "tension" behind the scenes amid a bullying probe into boss Richard Frediani. The BAFTA-winning editor has now taken a period of "extended leave" from the programme - but the rumours of behind-the-scenes feuds have been escalating, with hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt at the centre of the gossip.
A source told The Sun: "The probe into Fredi's bullying is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to BBC Breakfast. In reality, the smiles on the red sofa mask growing tension and an increasingly toxic culture, driven from the top down, with its unwitting presenters at the heart.
"Naga is incredibly approachable and friendly to everyone on set. Charlie is very professional and tries to disengage from any politics. But some stars, like Sally Nugent, are loved by Fredi, whereas others, like Naga and Charlie, are not."
Thankfully, though, it doesn't seem as though there is any tension between Naga and Charlie themselves. According to one Reddit user who saw them in person, the pair seem to get along quite well.
Reddit user uPLivesey wrote on a BBC Breakfast thread: "I went to a show at the MEN Arena three years ago and Naga and Charlie were there sat next to each other, seemed happy enough. Can't imagine they would spend their free time together if they disliked each other."
User u/Jimud1 echoed: "I regularly see them together outside the BBC when I'm out on a run. I think they wouldn't be spending breaks together if [there was tension] but that's just my assumption."
Two others spoke about Naga revealing her "true colours" off-screen, with user LeadershipAfraid42 penning: "I met Naga at a golf function over a decade ago, and she was really nice in real life!"
User PickleMuseum penned: "I've met her backstage in real life, she hosted a charity show (I think) I did a few years ago. She was hilarious and lovely. Not at all like her BBC personality."
