One such video features Prime Minister Modi seemingly promoting an investment scheme promising daily profits of up to ₹1.25 lakh on a contribution of ₹21,000. The clip has attracted widespread attention, with many users surprised by the potential returns.
The scheme's offer raised eyebrows, prompting netizens to question its credibility.
PIB's response was unambiguous.
"Sounds unbelievable? It is! Because it's FAKE," the bureau posted.
It clarified:
- The video is digitally manipulated
- No such investment scheme has been launched
- PM Modi or the Government of India is NOT associated with any such platform
"Don't let deepfakes fool you. Always VERIFY before you SHARE," the PIB warned.
A ₹15 lakh monthly return plan promoted by Sitharaman and Narayana Murthy?
A second video claims that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is promoting a similar investment platform. This one supposedly involves a partnership with ex-Infosys CEO N.R. Narayana Murthy, offering returns of ₹15 lakh per month for an investment of ₹21,000.
The combination of high returns and recognisable names quickly made the video viral.
However, the PIB urged caution, writing: "But wait… ❌ This is a digitally altered #fake video."
According to the clarification:
- The video is digitally manipulated
- No such scheme has been launched or endorsed by the Finance Minister
- The Government of India is not linked to any such platform
"Don't fall prey to any such suspicious investment claims! Stay alert. Verify before you trust," the post concluded.
