
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The BTech courses of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Indore have become a preference for meretorious under-graduates.The opening and closing ranks for admission have improved, showing that more top students now prefer IIT Indore for different engineering branches. This also shows how tough and competitive the admission process has become.Analyzing the data from 2023 to 2025, following are the key findings:Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): Still the most competitive branch. This year’s opening rank is 952, similar to the last two years. Mathematics and Computing: Continues to attract good students with an opening rank of 1678 in 2025. Interest in this branch has stayed steady.Electrical Engineering (EE): The opening ranks are around 2390, showing that competition remains strong and steady.Space Sciences and Engineering: This branch is gaining popularity. Its opening rank improved from 6048 in 2023 and 5666 in 2024 to 4860 in 2025.Mechanical Engineering (ME): The opening rank improved from 4980 in 2023 to 4946 in 2024 and 4506 in 2025, showing growing interest.Engineering Physics: This is more competitive. The opening rank improved from 5834 in 2023 and 5765 in 2024 to 5236 in 2025. Chemical Engineering: A major jump in competition here. The opening rank went from 7553 in 2023 and 7109 in 2024 to 5414 in 2025.Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science (MEMS): This specialized branch had a similar opening rank of 8439 this year as in 2024.Civil Engineering: Civil has also seen improvement. The opening rank improved from 9489 in 2023 to 8296 in 2024 and 8139 in 2025.Why Students Are Choosing IIT IndoreIIT Indore is becoming a top choice for engineering aspirants because of its research-driven academic programs.
