NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.82 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 0.77 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 0.71 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 0.41 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.09 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 1.83 per cent), Federal Bank Ltd.(down 1.71 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.13 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 0.87 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(down 0.59 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.35 per cent down at 56754.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 205.41 points at 25149.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 689.81 points at 82500.47.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 ended in the green, while 38 closed in the red.
Shares of JP Power, Vodafone Idea, RattanIndia Power, PC Jeweller and Sagility India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Glenmark Pharma, Fischer Chemic, Datamatics Glob, Cupid Ltd and TN Telecom hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Roto Pumps, Jindal Worldwide, Supreme Holdings, TECIL Chemicals and GSS Infotech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
