Arunachal Pradesh, where rivers like Brahmaputra, Siang and Subansiri flow, is a very popular place for rafting. Now, there is a major agreement to promote adventure and tourism here. The World Raffting Federation (WRF), the Indian Rafting Foundation (TIRF), the Asian WRF Council and the Arunachal Pradesh Water Sports Association (APWSA) have joined hands. This deal will give rafting in India recognition, help and rules.
After this new agreement, any rafting event in Arunachal Pradesh or India will now be under the supervision of WRF and Asian Council. This will create better facilities for sports in the state. APWSA has been considered by the International Cano Federation as an official group of canoeing and rafting in Arunachal. This identity will open new avenues of development, training and international partnerships properly in this sector.
Nino Dai, President of APWSA, is very happy with this agreement. He said, “This agreement will be very beneficial for Arunachal Pradesh and the whole country. Together with WRF, we will now be able to workshop, train the river guide and be able to give professional training to the local talent even more well.” He believes that this step will bring a big change in advancing adventure sports in North-East and with this Arunachal Pradesh will make its place on the world’s rafting and kayaking map.
Let me tell you, the Indian Rafting Foundation, in association with APWSA, is planning to get a big rafting championship in Arunachal in April 2026. Nino Dai said that talk is going on with WRF. If this plan is successful, then it will be a huge success in the world of water sports for Arunachal and the whole country. The conversation included APWSA President Nino Dai, Arunachal Sports Authority (SAA) director Gumanya Karbak and APWSA’s Hospitality Secretary Semi Doni.
