Global EV giant Tesla has started accepting bookings for all states and Union Territories in India from Tuesday onwards. The announcement was made on Tesla India’s official X handle.

“Now everyone in India can order directly on our website,” Tesla India posted on Tuesday. The list on the official website now allows booking from 34 locations (states and Union territories).

The Elon Muskled company opened its first showroom in the country in Mumbai last week.

PanIndia access

Initially, bookings were available for select cities only. As per the update on Tuesday, deliveries for  Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram and Pune will still be prioritised.  Deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of this year, but no specific dates have yet been announced.

The car can be booked online with a nonrefundable amount of Rs 22,220, while an amount of Rs 300,000 needs to be paid in the next seven days.

Customers of different states can book the car on the Tesla India website and customise it as per their requirement. The final prices for different states may vary due to the local applicable taxes and incentives.

Model Y variants

For India, Tesla has launched two variants of its Model Y EV. The Long RearWheel Drive (RWD) model has been priced at Rs 59.89 lakhs (exshowroom) while the Long Range AllWheel Drive (AWD) will cost Rs 67.89 lakhs.

The RWD model has an estimated range of 574 kms while the AWD model will have a range of 527 km.

For now, all the cars sold in India will be imported as completely built units (CBU) as the US giant doesn’t plan to open a manufacturing facility in the near future.

The company plans to open another showroom in Delhi’s Aerocity area next.
