UP Weather Update: Monsoon ‘high alert’ in UP on July 29… Possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in these districts, threat of thunderstorms too

UP Weather Update:  The effect of monsoon continues in Uttar Pradesh and the Meteorological Department has released a new update for 29 July 2025. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in some districts of western UP and Bundelkhand, which may affect normal life. At the same time, thunder and lightning have been predicted in a large part of the state, due to which people have been advised to remain alert.

Heavy rain predicted in western UP and Bundelkhand

The areas where the Meteorological Department has predicted strong possibility of heavy to very heavy rains include Agra, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur and surrounding districts. 

There is a possibility of heavy rain in these districts

IMD has predicted heavy rains in Banda, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun and surrounding areas. 

Chance of thunder/ lightning

There is also a possibility of lightning along with thunder in a large part of the state. This warning includes Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur and surrounding areas. 

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to stay safe during bad weather and take proper precautions to avoid lightning.
